De Savary's cash boost

Peter de Savary has put together a major cash injection to help keep Millwall in the Championship.

Lions chairman de Savary has joined forces with fellow directors Constantine Gonticas, Dick Towner and Theo Paphitis to raise £350,000.

The club lost £2.4m before tax during the six months up to November 2005 and de Savary knows he needs to stem those losses.

He said: 'We have been working with Dave Tuttle to bring in new players both permanently and on loan.

'It has been a frustrating process, however be in no doubt that Tutts has my support and the Board's to bring in players who can help finish this season's campaign in a position of safety.

'Although we are constrained by a lack of cash, we will not be forced to sell anyone from the squad before the end of the season.

'Indeed you should know that Theo, Constantine, Dick Towner and I together put up £350,000 last week to help the situation.

'It is clear, however, that things cannot continue like this indefinitely.

'We must make the most of our existing assets. We have one of the best grounds in London which is only used 25 times a year and located close to the heart of the City.

'Most importantly of all we have a football club with a proud tradition and a loyal support. We need to and will enhance that.'
