Pleased With The First Half - Lomas

Steve Lomas has said he was pleased with our performance in the first half as he believes we were competitive against Brentford, but he ahd to protect the players.

Speaking to the official site following the three nil loss, the gaffer said.

'First and foremost tonight was about protecting those players who you want to be playing for you at the start of the season. We were competitive in the first half but we couldn't afford to give those lads too much longer at this stage. That is one reason we've brought some extra bodies in to train and have a look at them.'

Lomas says that with the changes in the second half he felt the team were very disjointed and whilst noody likes a heavy defeat even in pre season, it didn't come as a total shock in the end.
