Lomas - Take Responsibility Tonight

Lomas - Take Responsibility Tonight

Steve Lomas has called on the players to take 'personal responsibility' for each of their own contributions in tonight's game against Blackpool.

The encounter takes place at The Den and everybody will be praying for our first win of the league campaign to really kickstart the season, especially as we sit in last place having gained only two points from our opening six matches.

Our form had seemed to show some signs of improvement of late as we picked up two draws, after losing our opening three matches, but that all went out the window with the devastating 5-1 thumping by Derby last weekend and fans haven't been slow to show it could've been the final straw, so Lomas will be desperately hoping for the right reaction tonight and if not all three points, at least a performance and a result that sends the crowd home in happier spirits.

Speaking to the official site ahead of the game, the underfire manager said he understood and felt the fans were entitled to boo against Derby, and tonight he's looking for a very serious response from the players.

'I don't know if something has got into the minds of some of the players about playing at The Den. If it has, there is only one way to cure it and that's to go out there tonight full of the passion, desire and determination that is expected of a Millwall team. You will not always play well in every game, but if you put in the commitment and hard work, it's amazing how far that can take you.'

Lomas says that plenty of words have been had since the debacle last Saturday and the players have been working hard on the plan for Blackpool, and he's expecting them to carry it out exactly how he wants.

'Talk is cheap. We will be judged by what happens over the next 90 minutes, and I will be looking for each individual who puts on the shirt to take personal responsibility for making sure they do their own jobs right, and restore pride in us as a team and a club.'

Lomas says that he can ask nothing more of the fans in attendance that they stick with the players he selects, and do their all to drive them on to giving us that extra 10%, get a positive result and 'give you something to cheer at The Den'.
