Lomas Defends Penalty Decision

Blackpool have made no secret of the fact they were incensed by the penalty decision given against them last night in our 3-1 victory.

However, speaking to the press about the decision by the referee, manager Steve Lomas has basically implied it was a no brainer by the referee because it clearly hit the hand (Isaiah Osbourne) in the box so it was nailed on and even if it wasn't, we were due one and it gave us all the belief we needed to go on and win the game, having gone behind so early on.

'There is no doubt that it hit his hand, we have been on the wrong end of some bad decisions and, even if that was wrong, we must still be in credit.'

Lomas also admitted that prior to the game, he had had a meeting with the board where they talked about players, and he joked.

'There was nothing untoward and I wouldn't tell you if there was!'

So plenty of first to reflect on, Martyn Waghorn's debut, Paul Robinson's first league appearance in 12 months, first start and goal for the season for Liam Trotter, and first goal for Nicky Bailey.

The most important thing was Steve Lomas' first league win and our first league win of the season, and with tensions still high - especially with the West Ham connection - this simply can't be his only win, we need to build on this and develop some day light between between us and that bottom three.

Hopefully now the duck is broken, the pressure will be off and the players will perform more consistently. Of course, having Steve Morison fit and back from injury should be a major boost moving forward.
