'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Barnsley Is The Start Of A Tough Period

Manager Steve Lomas has said that Barnsley represents the start of a very tough set of fixtures for Millwall.

As we near the turn of the year and the half way point of the season, Barnsley marks the start of eight fixtures in very quick succession before we toast in 2014, and then we top that off with a game against Leicester on New Years' Day.

Lomas knows that whilst results remain key for us, it will place the squad under stress as we will have to do our utmost to avoid cards, injuries and cope with any tiredness.

Speaking to the official site ahead of the game, the gaffer explained that we would have to be at our best when we face Barnsley, and then we will have to redouble our efforts to get through this period.

'There's no getting away from the fact that at this relative early stage of the season this is an important fame for us. Our home form of late has been significantly better having stopped the rot at The Den, and after a couple of victories we have picked up good points against top sides in QPR and Burnley. Not the onus is on us to turn draws into victories, starting against a Barnsley side fighting for their lives.'

Millwall obviously are unbeaten in our last four games on home soil, but we have gone six games without a win now and that's a stat he'd dearly like to change this weekend, especially as referenced, the run we now start.

On that score Lomas says that the whole squad will have it's part to play now and as he makes changes, he really needs people to step up and take their chance and not only do the job they are picked for as the cover somebody with injury or for a rest, but really give him a selection headache for the next match.
