Lomas Pleased With Professional Showing
Manager Steve Lomas has said he was delighted to see Millwall pick up another clean sheet today as it was a very professional display from the boys.
Without checking, this was our third clean sheet of the league season?
Obviously Millwall received a bit of luck in the game with the own goal giving us all three points, but sometimes these things go for you and sometimes against you, and Lomas told the official site that given our overall performance and professional outlook on the game, he believes we deserved that stroke of luck as really we should've put ourselves in front anyway.
'Defensively we did well and I'm very happy with the clean sheet. Once we got the goal we had to ride out any pressure and in the end the lads did a very professional job.'
Lomas admits it was a scrappy affair and not very entertaining or pretty to watch, but sometimes you need to just accept that and grind out the result you want in any case.
Going on to say that he has to give credit to the lads today for doing the ugly work and for digging in and he was delighted, despite the lack of entertainment, to see the crowd stick with the team throughout and he hopes they were pleased with the win in the end.
'Today was about getting the result and we did enough to earn that win.'
With five changes being made to the starting line up prior to the game, the gaffer also says he hopes he can now start to field a more settled side in future as that in itself will help us to further victories as the players will play themselves into some real form and develop that togetherness that can be disrupted when you are making forced changes week in week out.
He also explains that Jimmy Abdou has taken a knock on his knee, and that Liam Trotter has tweaked his groin so they will be monitored, but he was pleased to get Scott Malone, Mark Beevers and Scott McDonald back.
