Holloway Relishing His Den Debut
Manager Ian Holloway has said he can't wait to make his first appearance as our gaffer at The Den this weekend when we face Ipswich Town.
In his career so far Holloway has faced off against Millwall at The Den as both a player and a manager, but this will be his first experience in the 'home' dug out with the fans actually wanting to warm to him, as opposed to hoping he trips up on the way to the technical area.
Speaking to the official site ahead of the game, Holloway said he was very excited to experience the crowd being behind him, because he certainly knew what it felt like to have them against him.
'I can't wait for my first chance to say 'Hello' to our fans, it's fantastic and I can't wait to begin life with this set of supporters. I want the players to respond to their passion. We have a duty to them to play with pride and a passion that they deserve. That is our starting point.'
Obviously having already tasted loss in his first game in charge, and the fact he has talked about constant improvement on a daily basis at the club, Ollie says he's looking for a better performance than the one we put in against Huddersfield, even though he still doesn't quite know how we lost a point in that game.
'I want to see improvement, how we attack, how many chances we have, how many crosses, and the delivery of our set pieces. We've got to be up for it, in their face. We are working towards a game plan. Last week was a case of having to batten down the hatches, this week is going to be very different.'
Holloway is obviously up against a much admired, and respected old friend in the shape of bearded Mick McCarthy, and as for their gaffer and what he has achieved at the Tractors, he said.
'He is what he is. He says it as it is and I absolutely love the bloke. I've got all the time in the world for him - apart from this weekend!'
