'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Holloway Very Proud

Manager Ian Holloway has said he is extremely proud of the team after they took an unexpected, but much needed, three points against Derby County yesterday.

A solitary goal from striker Steve Morison very shortly after the hour mark in the game was enough to grant us the victory and keep the narrowest of buffer zones over those teams in the relegation zone.

The victory stands as Millwall's 1500th Football League win and it couldn't have been more important with how this season has gone and our need to pick up wins between now and the end of the campaign to secure our Championship status for 2014-15.

Speaking to the official site after the one nil victory, Holloway beamed.

'I am very proud of them, what can I say? That was a tough game. They beat us 5-1 at our place this season and Derby looked bouyant and full of themselves. We spoke about how to stop them but looked nervous. The longer the game went on the better we looked. We grew in belief in the second half, we've done an awful lot of work. We scored a fantastic goal and that's the first time we've been in front for quite a while.'

Unfortunately following the game, our efforts did have a cost on the injury front.

Danny Shittu (groin), Scott Malone (leg), Shane Lowry (knee), David Forde (finger) and DJ Campbell (hamstring) all left the game with issues and he's already ruled two of them out of the game against Blackpool on Tuesday, but we will have to wait and see on the others.
