Upson Welcomes Webster

Upson Welcomes Webster

Ed Upson was delighted to welcome his former Yeovil Town colleague to the club when he signed yesterday, and he's said that manager Ian Holloway has signed a top quality defender.

The 27 year old became Holloway's third addition of the summer so far, when he put pen to paper on a two year deal, and with Upson making the same switch back in January, he told the official site that he couldn't have been more pleased to be reunited with his old mate.

'Like I did with Liam Trotter before I came, Byron was asking me a few questions about the club and what it is like. I'm enjoying my time here so had nothing but good words, though ultimately it was what the gaffer said that persuaded him to join the club. I'm excited to be playing alongside him again. Byron has a lot of ability and is one of those defenders who is good on and off the ball. He can do a lot with it at his feet.'

Upson goes on to say that the towering defender obviously has a physical element to his game, and he's good in the box defensively, but can also offer options in attack from set pieces given his height and ultimately he feels he's the perfect addition to ensure we have some very healthy competition in defence next term.

'Byron's a leader, too, and can score goal like he did for Yeovil. Hopefully he can continue that for Millwall.'

Not a bad signing at all and Holloway definitely seems to be going the route of wanting experience, but players with something maybe to prove.
