Enjoyable Learning Curve For Gregory

Enjoyable Learning Curve For Gregory

New summer signing from Halifax, Lee Gregory, has said that every day at Millwall is a learning curve, but it's an experience he's enjoying and relishing.

The former non league striker attempting to make the jump to the Championship, got off the mark for us today in the behind closed doors three one victory over Aldershot, and it was also his first full 90 minutes after getting 45 a piece in the games against Stevenage and Dartford.

Speaking to the official site after bagging his opener from close range following an assist by Jermaine Easter, he said.

'It's always good to get off the mark, but the main thing was working on our fitness again. It was nice to get 90 minutes under my belt but I'm feeling a bit stuff, though I'm sure I'll feel fitter for it in the next game.'

Making such a jump, Gregory was obviously asked about the differences he'd encountered so far since moving to the club, and he admits the main thing he's got to learn is being more aware on the pitch and making the right amount of runs, but also in the right direction at the right time.

'Last year at times, when I wasn't on the ball, I could afford to walk a bit more after doing some forward runs. Now, though, you're running forward, then back and always making sure you're in the right place at the right time. It's a massive learning curve for me and one that I'm enjoying.'

He'd have certainly got a good boost of confidence from getting that first one, so hopefully it's the first of many and manager Ian Holloway really has unearthed a gem in what is a risky transfer really.
