Lack Of Responsibility Against Burton - Harris

Lack Of Responsibility Against Burton - Harris

Manager Neil Harris has bemoaned a lack of responsibility following Millwall's defeat to Burton Albion at the weekend.

Hosting Burton at The Den on Saturday, Millwall fell to a one nil defeat as the visitors scored with 20 minutes remaining in the game and it proved enough for them to take all three points on the day.

Speaking to the official site as he met with the media Harris knew a lack of finishing had cost us, but certainly going down to ten men with Jed Wallace's harsh sending off had changed the game.

'We should be more clinical. The forwards with their chances wasn't good enough and the attacking play wasn't good enough. We've been in every game this season, including today. People have to take responsibility. We should've been in front today and in previous games, we should've been out of sight.'

Harris went on to say.

'I'm unhappy with the result and whilst there was no lack of effort from my players, I don't think they were brave enough in their decision making with 11 or 10 men. The first goal was also going to be vital today and after we didn't get it, plus the red card, that gave us a mountain to climb. I'm disappointed with the quality in the group and that we haven't scored a goal at home. My frustration is born out of my players letting themselves down.'

Having referenced the red card, he went on to comment.

'Today's sending off is a pivotal one, because we're at 0-0, at home, in a game we're completely on top of and never look like conceding a goal or losing the game - and that changed the game. I've spoken to my players and they're in no uncertain terms of where I'm coming from.'

With Shane Ferguson missing the match with illness, Harris admitted he'd been low all week and it effected him in the match in midweek as well.

'Shane was struggling after the game the other night and he has been ill this week, so he couldn't be involved.'
