Instant Reactions - Millwall v Barnsley (6/1/18)

Following yesterday's clash between Millwall and Barnsley, here are the instant reactions from both managers.

Millwall hosted Barnsley at The Den for on Saturday January 6, with the hosts taking a comfortable four one victory on the day.

Barnsley opened the scoring after eleven minutes in the match but just after the half hour mark Aiden O'Brien had the hosts on level terms once more. A Ben Thompson effort gave them the advantage within minutes of the half time restart and the visitors then saw themselves reduced to ten men as Joe Williams saw red.

O'Brien completed his brace in minute 56 before Fred Onyedinma ended the affair with a fourth just after the hour mark.

Teams:

Millwall:

Martin, McLaughlin, Hutchinson, Cooper, Craig, Wallace (Twardek 75), Thompson, Williams, Onyedinma (Romeo 85), Morison (Gregory 72), O'Brien.

Substitutes:

Archer, Meredith, Tunnicliffe, Saville.

Barnsley:

Davies, Cavare, Pinnock, Lindsay, McCarthy, Gardner, Williams, Potts (Mallan 73), Isgrove (Moncur 64), Bradshaw, Hammill (Thiam 64).

Substitutes:

Townsend, Smith, Brown, Williams.

Speaking to the BBC's cameras a short time after match day referee Darren Bond blew the final whistle, Millwall manager Neil Harris explained.

'I was delighted for Aiden. He's been a goal threat in every game he's played, he's been close and denied from goal-line clearances and the woodwork, but to get a couple today will do his confidence a world of good. I thought the 20 minutes before half time and 20 minutes after half time were the best we've been this year.'

Barnsley head coach manager Paul Heckingbottom in his comparative interview explained.

'Although it was 1-1 at half time I felt we'd missed an opportunity and I saw signs that we weren't really defending properly. The second goal was a clear indication of that and then the sending off obviously puts us on the back foot. I'm really disappointed. However, the only saving grace is that there's not three points lost on this game today.'
