Impressive Barnsley Showing For Harris

Millwall manager Neil Harris has spoken of his delight at the 'individual' performances that took us to victory over Barnsley at the weekend.

Hosting the side at The Den for the game, Barnsley took the lead in the match but Aiden O'Brien hit a brace and we had further goals from Ben Thompson and Fred Onyedinma as we booked our place in the fourth round draw in a four one victory.

Speaking to the official site as he met with the media following the game for his full press conference, a delighted Chopper explained.

'I thought we started the game really well and were excellent for 10 minutes. We should've gone in front, didn't, and then conceded a sucker punch of a goal. It took us 10 minutes after that to find our feet again and the 20 minutes before and just after half-time, I thought we were as good as we've been this season. Some of our play was very, very impressive. We passed the ball well and looked a goal threat for long periods.'

Harris went on to say.

'We were on top before we went behind, playing some good stuff, forcing some set plays and looking dangerous from corners. After the goal, I wondered what the reaction was going to be. It took us time to get going, but I told the boys to express themselves and that in no uncertain terms we were to win the game and get into the next round. I was really pleased with the reaction.'

Having made changes for the tie, that was also a source of pleasure for Harris as players stepped up.

'I'm delighted for the players that came in and took their opportunity. Tony Craig, Ben Thompson, Fred Onyedinma - they all took their opportunity. I played a very strong side but made a couple of changes, firstly to give some people minutes and secondly to rest a couple of players. When you do that, sometimes you lose a little bit of continuity, especially here at The Den, but we didn't show any of that today. We were a quality side.'

He added.

'We had some good leadership on the pitch today in Tony, Steve Morison and Shaun Williams, Shaun Hutchinson, too. There was a lot of good individual performances today.'
