Warnock Blames The Ref Again! - Millwall v Cardiff (9/2/18)

Following today's clash between Millwall and Cardiff City, here are the instant reactions from both managers.

Millwall hosted Cardiff City at The Den for a 7.45pm kick off on Friday February 9, with both sides sharing the points on the evening.

The visitors quick took advantage with Junior Hoilett scoring after only three minutes had been played but Lee Gregory had the hosts back on level terms before the first half had ended.

It was a typically gritty affair but Millwall will feel they should've taken the points really having had greater possession and double Cardiff's efforts on target, but equally Cardiff will refer to a disallowed goal for Sol Bamba inside of the final ten minutes as the referee had already blown his whistle for a foul before Bamba slotted home.

Neil Warnock obviously didn't see it that way but that doesn't really surprise anyone does it?

Teams:

Millwall:

Archer, Romeo, Hutchinson, Cooper, Meredith, Wallace, Tunnicliffe, Saville, Marshall (Onyedinma 79), Gregory (Cahill 90), Morison.

Substitutes:

McLaughlin, Williams, Martin, Elliott, Shackell.

Cardiff:

Etheridge, Ecuele Manga, Morrison, Bamba, Paterson, Grujic (Halford 77), Ralls, Bennett, Mendez-Laing (Damour 78), Hoilett, Madine (Zohore 82).

Substitutes:

Peltier, Pilkington, Ward.

Speaking to the BBC's cameras a short time after match day referee Keith Stroud blew the final whistle, Millwall manager Neil Harris explained.

'We probably got away with one with the goal that was disallowed. I feel for Cardiff in some sense because they are probably on the wrong end of a decision. We had a very similar one at Brentford where we scored a good goal and it was pulled back, so that probably evens that one up for the season. I'm really pleased with a point as it was a poor opening 20 minutes by us and a poor 15 minutes to finish. We showed real quality up to half-time but didn't build on that momentum in the second half, and that is credit to Cardiff.'

Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock in his comparative interview explained.

'I think it is appalling at this level. Sol is going to shoot and then he blows. I don't accept that. He is a really experienced referee and I feel let down. He cost us the game. We are fighting to get in the Premier League. But for the referee it would have been three points.'

Excellent referee. As it was a head injury he had no choice but to blow the whistle, even if it was a split second before the ball went in the net. Plus we could all sit back and laugh at Warnock having a moan.
