Saville Does It Again - Millwall v Brentford

Saville Does It Again - Millwall v Brentford

Following Saturday's clash between Millwall and Brentford, here are the instant reactions from both managers.

Millwall hosted Brentford at The Den on Saturday March 10, with the hosts taking a one nil victory on the day.

The hosts opened the scoring through George Saville who scored inside of the opening minute of the game for the second straight match to continue Millwall's run of fine form.

Brentford did think they had levelled through Yoann Barbet but his effort was ruled out for offside, but fans will certainly think they were worthy of a point as they hit the woodwork twice as they pressed for an equaliser in the game.

It wasn't just bragging rights at stake, potential Play Off hopes could've been strengthened and weakened with the result. Millwall sit in tenth place six points from sixth placed Middlesbrough and Brentford sit in eleventh - with a game in hand - now eight points from Boro.

Speaking to the BBC's cameras a short time after match day referee Stuart Attwell blew the final whistle, Millwall manager Neil Harris explained.

'The best side won the game 1-0, the best side always wins the game - that's the result. Millwall going like a steam train really pleases me. Six points off the play-offs with nine games to go. The players, and fans, have earned the right to dream. You make your own luck in this game, in any walk of life, but in football particularly. Today we did ride it a bit, but we worked hard, the shape was good.'

Brentford head coach Dean Smith in his comparative interview explained.

'The better team got beat today. There are such small margins in football at times. I can't question the lads' performances today, I thought we were very good, especially in the second half. We've won most of the games we control. Today we didn't because a player gets injured and because of a linesman's flag. That's the only reason we haven't won today.'
