Random quote: Nicky Santoro: I think in all fairness, I should explain to you exactly what it is that I do. For instance tomorrow morning ill get up nice and early, take a walk down over to the bank and... walk in and see and uh... if you don't have my money for me, I'll... crack your fcukin' head wide-open in front of everybody in the bank. And just about the time that I'm comin' out of jail, hopefully, you'll be coming out of your coma. And guess what? I'll split your fcukin' head open again. 'Cause I'm fcukin' stupid. I don't give a fcuk about jail. That's my business. That's what I do. Casino.

Paris the White Hart is pretty much the same at Cuxton, the food is expensive there for what it is but at least you dont get food poisoning eating there.

Id give Chatham a wide berth in terms of drinking there, Upnor is nice cant think of the pub quite close to the marina there , also try coming down new road into rochester there are some better pubs there compared to Chatham and a varied choice depending on what you are after.

If you come the other way out of Chatham via A2 into Gillingham there are a few old style boozers along that road as well as a few wethersppon type pubs, have often ate in the honerable pilot by B+Q at Gillingham family pub and always friendly

The White Hart selling food?

I'm sure the nearest they came to a menu in the eighties was a box of salt and vinegar crisps!

Bob - do you remember The Robin Hood in Upper Halling? Now converted into just a couple of nondescript houses.

It was my brother-in-law's local - I wouldn't mind a fiver for the nights we staggered back down Vicarage Road after a two in the morning lock-in!

Ged took early retirement - they now live up in Repton, Derbyshire - ideal for a free bed after the Burton match.

Not sure mate didnt live down here then but I do a lot of work around Cuxton and Halling some of the driveways though are that steep I have to park the van at the bottom of them as id lose the clutch trying to get up them , worth it for the views round there though

Thanks everyone for suggestions - gives me plenty of options, I'll enjoy working through them!

Coincidently i used to have a small yacht that i wintered on the hard at Cuxton and i remember once watching an England game in The White Hart, must have been a good 15 years ago though now.

There was a huge arms bust at the Marina at Cuxton a few weeks back, linked with arrests at tilbury, apparently the guns and ammo found at Cuxton was one of the biggest in the UK, never would have thought it with such a remote back water

I'm sure the Command House is still open (whether it's mojo's at night I don't know) but I drove down beside it by the river in August on a private job and people were eating and drinking outside. Decent place for summer time having a nice cold stella looking out at Chatham and the River Medway

Other then that you could always take a few tinnies to the dock yard. Can't get anymore naval then that!
