Is this the permanent decline of Charlton Athletic?

Just noticed our gate v Reading on a Tuesday night was higher than their Saturday gate v Bury, despite them giving away tickets to Greenwich University students.

Officially the worst & now smallest club in SE London. The late 90s and early 2000s must seem like a lifetime ago.

I'm off to bed.

Walsall will always have a special place in my heart - dancing to 'I believe I'm miracles' with the players on the pitch!

Charlton did their best to expand their supporter base. When they were in the prem they started running cheap coaches to matches from outside London. On these coaches they would teach the new supporters the songs and chants their usual fans used. Don't know whether they still do. One of the places they came from was Crawley. This pissed off Crawley Town fc of course. In some ways you have to admire them trying to do this but the attraction was premier league football. Sure those new fans don't go now.

Karl Robinson was upset at Charltons performance against Southend. He's ordered his players to come in today at 7am, to watch the match.

Not sure that is much of a punishment. Sitting down with a cup of coffee watching a football match. It's not as if the players will have a hangover from the night before. No one goes out on boxing day.

Just had a look...

Oddly enough, there are no posts about us ?
The obsession with 'Smallwall Scum' has somewhat vanished for the moment.
They really are proper Bertie Dellends on that Valium life.

I remember watching a load of them get on a coach in Medway somewhere and the bloke interviewed one as he was getting on, decked out with red and white bobble hat and scarf the interviewer ask how long he’d supported Charlton. Bloke said about half an hour mate.

If I made my staff sit down and watch a Charlton game I could be up before a tribunal....

Our local BBC channel covers Kent and Sussex but reports on Charlton as one of our local teams along with Brighton Gillingham and Crawley. Don't understand it they are a London team.
