"Obviously people sit there and talk a lot of rubbish about tactics, just wanting to find excuses".

"People keep going on about tactics, playing 'hoofball' or long ball or whatever crap they are talking about".

"I'll tell you what, our fans are the worlds worst if we give the ball away on the edge of our own box trying to pass it out - they would go absolutely mental. So how can they sit there and say we should change the way that we play?"

"It's been boring playing upfront the last few weeks as all we've done (in training) is defensive work".

Interesting comments...

He's having a whinge, just like we have a whinge (or 500).

Fair play to him, he has a point and is willing to be frank/blunt, exactly like we are.

I respect him more... maybe because I also think he's right..

Us fans are a fkin nightmare...

And... we also can't play the passing game from the back... Romeo, nah can run but passing is piss poor usually... Webster, nah best Defender we've had for a long time, but is a no nonsense player.... Martin, nah although probably the best passer we have back there... Sid, no way ... Craig, don't make me laugh, he can't kick straight.

So what has Morison said that's so bad/incorrect?

saying that we don't want the current bunch of defenders to play it out is not the same as saying we would never want to see talented composed players in the back four - the fact is we have hardly had any players with the skill to pass it out for quite a while; Robinson shittu, dunne lowry Osborne , jack smith etc(Scott Malone might have been an exception so of course we sold him) You can't play it out if the players are not capable - it is another story of poor recruitment and development - Morison should be mindful of that - to suggest that we could see technical ability from the current bunch if we only got off their backs is disingenuous and I think highly disrespectful - as a rule footballers are better keeping their mouths shut

he is fucking right we want the ball forward as quick as possible. we all fucking moan when the ball gets played around. we are the most un patient set of supporters in england! we could never play passing football because as soon as we make a mistake we would be straight on their backs cunting them off!

Pay me 5 large a week to play for Millwall and you can call me what ever you like!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Probably the most accomplished and intelligent passer out of defence in recent years was Scott Barron.

Can't say I agree. Romeo at times has looked like he could work well with Worrall. Martin, despite his critics, always looks to carry the ball forward looking for the overlap. Same with Ferguson. Never seems to be anyone available to work with them. Webster can pass the ball, no problems there. Problem as always IMHO is the tactics and the captain. Maybe it's my ears, but there seems to be much more of a negative reaction from the crowd to this dire hoofball than to the odd misplaced pass.

You assume he hasn't. Which is probably not right. I can understand why practice is boring for a striker when the focus must be defense as it is one
of the worst in the league statistically. Been there done that. It's an observation not a complaint. Perhaps Hutch could help but Beevers is missed Craig isn't getting it done. Young kids will be able to do it but maybe not yet. So the focus is right and hopefully results will come and Morison is right that all this wheel chair general shit by the peanut gallery is just that.

Morison is right - cannot think of another English that has been held back its fans so much...whether driving people away with violence or driving away footballers with abuse.

However, has no one bothered to mention on this thread or to Harris & Morison that every single third division team we have played this season that I have seen has tried playing it out from the back?

So, it does seem a little like we fans are taking a lot of the blame for Harris' inability to replace donkies like Craig.

Aint the fans fault that we have professional players that cant pass a football, I thought that would be a requirement of becoming a professional player, be a bit like an accountant not knowing a debit or credit... oh hold on

saying that we don't want the current bunch of defenders to play it out is not the same as saying we would never want to see talented composed players in the back four - the fact is we have hardly had any players with the skill to pass it out for quite a while; Robinson shittu, dunne lowry Osborne , jack smith etc

(Scott Malone might have been an exception so of course we sold him)

Wow!!! Just spotted that one....!!!

Malone....???? His passing was bloody abysmal. Shocking.

He was so one footed that when one of our midfielders used to run towards him into space to collect the short pass Malone would ignore him if it meant a right footed tap inside. Even if our bloke was pnly two yards away and calling he'd only get it if no opposition was ahead of Malone, who would then give with his left foot. If an opponent was nearby he would not, under any circumsrances, move the ball onto his right foot and give.

Instead, he would hit left-footed 20 or 30 yard cross field passes backwards to the centre back, as often as not putting him under pressure and sometimes just hitting one of the opposition.

Malone, a good passer? If he could play it down the line, sometimes maybe. Anything else and he was bloody hopeless.

Whisky,

Your view of Malone is well documented, I never thought he was as bad as you say, the thing is since leaving Millwall he has been plying his trade in the championship, Cardiff and now Fulham? They must see something in him.

There were few tears when he left Cardiff, I can assure you of that. One prominant fan I know made me laugh when I discussed his move in the Summer. He said: "Malone? One game you'd watch him bomb forward, hit a screamer, or dig out a superb cross and you'd think 'bloody hell, we have a player here'. Then for the next four games you'd watch him with your head in your hands and muttering to myself 'for fuck's sake, for fuck's sake' over and over again. He did my head in."

And at Fulham he has been continuously substituted when Fulham were hanging on to a slender lead or a draw, a rather unusual move when it comes to a defender, I think you might agree.

Also, Malone hasn't featured in a winning Fulham team since they beat an under-strength Middlesbrough side in the League Cup in August. He has spent a chunk of his time since then on the bench.

Make of that what you will.

Here I have some sympathy for Morison's comments. Malone replaced Scott Barron, who took appalling stick because he did always try to find a player out of defence, usually a midfielder. A superb player for us who was given absolute dog's. I could never get my head around the way he was treated by the Den faithful. His career sadly ended soon after he left us with long-term injury at Brentford.

A description of inconsistency, if he had that bombing forward hitting a screamer three games out of four he would be at the upper reaches of the championship. Not really defending him as I don’t care for him as a player, it’s just that hot & cold could laid at the feet of most of our current team.
