There is something that doesn't quite add up with him. He was quite well thought of, in terms of experience he had the edge over Romeo. His contract expired and we offered him a new one. We clearly didn't offer him less than he was on at the moment. He had scored important goals for us, especially in the cup games.
He turns down a new contract presumably because he wasn't happy with something....and something we will probably never know.....becomes a free agent, Hawks himself around several clubs and then signs for Rotherham, a division below us and probably for less money. Anybody on here have the inside scoop on what went wrong?

He knew his chances would have been limited this season,
Behind Conor and Romeo.

We hadn't signed Conor before Shaun turned the contract down and may not have.

From what I read earlier in the pre season, I think Mclaughlin was always a target. Maybe Romeo may of been out on loan?

I wasn't sorry when he turned down our contract as I was critical of him and his defensive ability. When he went to challenge his winger he always gave him too much room. He would be two or three yards away giving the winger the chance to run at him and choose whether to go in side or outside. This was in sharp contrast to Romeo who was always quickly on to his man, stayed much tighter, limited his options and defended better. Add to that Romeo is a real athlete and can bomb down the wing, cross the ball and be a greater threat going forward than Cummings.
Clearly others thought the same as nobody in the Championship would take a punt on him and even Rotherham would only give him one year. He obviously thinks he is better than he really is!

was a good squad player who was unlucky with injuries in he's time with us. I think he's experience will be missed, but I'm happy with Romeo and McLovin
