On March 17th 1934 Grimsby Town centre forward Pat Glover scored a hat-trick in their 5-2 home victory over Millwall.

What even more notable feat did he achieve against the Lions that season?

No. But curiously, Lionheart, although he played in only three League games for any other club, one was against Millwall.

That was in the abandoned 1939/40 season: he turned out in the green and black of Plymouth and played centre forward in their surprise 2-0 win in a game Millwall dominated. He didn't score, though he offered the biggest physical presence of any Argyle striker since Plymouth sold Jack Cock to us.

His one goal for the Argyle came in their 1-0 against Sheffield Wednesday, a sublime effort by all accounts. But the goal was scrapped from the official record books when the season was abandoned when World War II was declared the very next day.

Glover did score that day (4th November 1933). But not for Grimsby...he scored for Wales in their 1-1 draw in their home international fixture in Belfast.

The winner scored against Millwall was by his understudy, Wally Ponting, one of only three League goals he scored for Grimsby in six years!

No, Glover's feat was much more impressive than getting a hat-trick, Robbie!

Tricky one Whisky,
If he didn't play against us that season what feat could he have achieved over us?
I've believe he still holds the record for Grimsby for the number of goals in a season, did that surpass some sort of record we had previously set in division two?

He scored 42 goals that season, so did that beat a record previously held by a wall player?

Try again,,.......

it was us or Man U to get relegated on the last game of the season. We lost Man U stayed up, Grimsby were champions. Glover top scorer.

We had a player called Fishlock who slapped Glover around the gills.
