There is a lot of pride and pent up emotion in this game and if ever there was a day to rise up, strain every muscle and meet every challenge to get three points then this is the day. It has taken us over two and a half years to get some sort of revenge over the insane one and there will be some of our team who will want to show him what a complete clown he is.
After a pointless game at Wolves who has dusted themself down quickly, caught their breath and is all ready to go again?

Archer played well on Saturday and made some decent saves so I am sure his place is not threatened. The back four all looked solid and except for backing off a bit too much for their goal they looked a solid unit. McLaughlin looks calm and in control and he will need all his powers of concentration amidst a raucous atmosphere. Webster will be one of those who will be out to show his discontent with Hollowhead. Originally told by the clown that he would be first choice he got messed about, disillusioned and eventually sought solace with a loan to Yeovil. Him and Hutch are as good a partnership in the centre of defence and they have probably spoken to Conor about the strengths and weaknesses of his international team mate Washington. I assume that Meredith's substitution on Saturday was tactical and he will be fit to face the hoops.

It is clear that the midfield will have to change because of AOB's red card but will NH make more than one change. Fred looked lively when he came on and could this be the game to play him wide on the right. Saville and Williams looked solid on Saturday so I don't expect a change there but Tunnicliffe must be thinking that a change cannot be far away for him. Fergie will slot in on the left to replace AOB.

Up front we fired a few blanks and Morison was not his usual dominant self. He needs a friendly arm or a gentle kick up the rear to ensure a better performance. He will be another to want to prove a point to our former manager. Gregory ran hard on Saturday but needs to wear his shooting boots and hit the back of the net. If fit, then Elliott could be more of a direct threat.

My thoughts are

Archer
McLaughlin Webster Hutch Meredith
Wallace Saville Williams Fergie
Gregory Morison

Subs King TC Cooper Romeo Tunnicliffe Fred Elliott

Are these threads about what team Harris will pick, or what team I would pick ?

Anyway my team would be -

Archer
Romeo Cooper Hutchinson Meredith
Fred Saville Williams Tunnicliffe Ferguson
Elliott (if fit)

Subs:

King McLaughlin Webster Craig Thompson Wallace Gregory

There will be a lot of tired bodies after the Wolves game. QPR will be buzzing & it will be a high tempo derby. So give good players who won't be tired a game.

Team Harris may pick -

Archer
McLaughlin Webster Hutchinson Meredith
Wallace Williams Saville Ferguson
Gregory Elliott (if fit)

Subs:

King Romeo Craig Cooper Tunnicliffe Fred Morison

Can't see Neil making too many changes, the team's not playing badly. Assuming Elliott is not fit:

Archer
McLaughlin, Webster, Hutch, Meredith
Fred, Williams, Saville, Fergie
Gregory, Morison

Fergie for AOB straight forward but Fred for Wallace may shock some.

Wallace excites but struggles to deliver the final product and he constantly leaves McLaughlin exposed. Fred's 12 minutes against Wolves was the most encouraging cameo I've seen from him. Looked composed and confident going forward and defensively pressurised Wolves and supported McLaughlin. So I think he deserves a start.

With Elliott expected to be unfit we have little choice but to continue with Gregory and Morison. Both were poor against Wolves and need to raise their game. Hopefully Tuesday will see them turn the corner.

I know one man's meat is another man's poison, but mystified by some selections not including Williams. For me one of the few players not to look out-of-place in The Championship and capable of threading a pass to our front men. If memory serves me correctly, he was involved in the creation of the 1st 3 goals against Norwich. Can't remember if he delivered the corner for Hutch's goal.

Only threatening Millwall shot on target v Wolves.

I appreciate he's less likely to kick an opponent in the air but to suggest Tunnicliffe and/or Ben in preference reeks of desperation.

The current team aren't playing badly and, ignoring the freak Ipswich result, have only conceded 3 goals in 5 Championship games. The problem is upfront and I'm not convinced switching to 5 at the back or in midfield and dropping, arguably, our most creative player is going to help the goals for column.

Interesting.

Except who will do the work defending corners and other set pieces if Morison is out of the side? Away from home especially the importance of his defensive qualities are at least on a par with his attacking ones...

WE NEED 5 IN MIDFIELD!

Assuming we had 5 in midfield:

- Who would play up front?
- Do they have the skills to instantly control a ball and hold it up until support arrives?
- Which midfielders will break forward to support the lone frontman and, hopefully, score?

At best playing 5 in midfield will increase the odds of us having a shut-out but can't see how it will solve our lack of goals issue.

Repeating, ignoring the freak Ipswich game, the 3 goals we've conceded in 5 Championship games have come from Wallace allowing a Forest player to cut inside from the wide left unchallenged; Hutch giving away a free-kick just outside the box (Bolton) and Webster allowing himself to be turned, Jota grabbing the ball 10 yards in the Wolves half, wide left again, and breaking at pace through an out of position defence.

I'm not convinced playing 5 in midfield would have stopped the Forest goal, we had sufficient players in position they just didn't do their job.

Having an extra man wouldn't have stopped Hutch fouling the Bolton frontman nor the free-kick sailing into the net.

It's possible having an extra player anchored in front of our 2 CDs would have halted Jota, but when he broke we still had 2 back but they weren't close enough to pick-up Jota and the guy that went on a decoy run. This goal originated from us losing the ball as we advanced in the Wolves which had nothing to do with us playing 4 in midfield.

Our problem is scoring, not defending. If we had converted a fraction of the chances we've had this season we wouldn't be having this debate.
