The word C*** under or over used on this site ?
09 October 2017 20:03 Post ID: #1556790
Lots of cunts on this site good or bad do you think it's getting a bit out of hand ? i for one have never used the word so much since i have been on here even the wife says if i keep on using it she will divorce me.

Please vote, just put yes cunt for yes or no cunt for no or if you're not bothered just put not bothered cunt.

Certainly under utilised over here. I like to chuck one into conversation now and again with the septics just for the reaction... It's like the devil just walked into the room

You are right: the Americans are bewildered by the word if dropped in polite company.

Myself and the British-born New York cocktail writer Gary Regan would bring parties and events to stupefied silence in places like Chicago and San Francisco as we would meet and then address each other as various forms of cunt. People expected us to start battering each other and would then stand there with jaws dropped as we would then man hug each other in friendly greeting...

If you believe Wikipedia there is confusion to the word's etymology. However my next-door-neighbour from when I was a youth, an English teacher at my school, told me that his professor at university, who spent his lifetime researching such things, had taught him the word was from the Vikings (very Millwall) and initially pronounced Koonta. In parts of Leicestershire (where the Vikings had been strong) it is still pronounced that way.

It's meaning: the sheath of a sword. A perfect fit.

I very rarely use the C word on here, generally go for Minky, less harsh, almost gay except it can't be. There are variations of course, being a bit of a cunt is not nearly as bad as being a cunt of the highest order.

A girlfriend of mine from years ago was from Barnsley. When I pissed her off (quite often),
she used to call me a Tuppence, which apparently is still a cunt. My current wife when pissed off with me, calls me a coño. As you can see, I tend to mix with some pretty charming woman.

Anyone on here old enough to remember having a pint down Gropecunt Lane?
Full of cunts.

"Under its entry for the word cunt, the Oxford English Dictionary reports that a street was listed as Gropecunt lane in about 1230, the first appearance of that name.[4] According to author Angus McIntyre, organised prostitution was well established in London by the middle of the 12th century, initially mainly confined to Southwark in the southeast, but later spreading to other areas such as Smithfield, Shoreditch, Clerkenwell, and Westminster.[6] The practice was often tolerated by the authorities, and there are many historical examples of it being dealt with by regulation rather than by censure: in 1393 the authorities in London allowed prostitutes to work only in Cokkes Lane[a] (now known as Cock Lane) and in 1285 French prostitutes in Montpellier were confined to a single street.[7]"
