Harris Something Special ?

Heard that Nigel Clough turned down Forest in the summer. Surprised as he didn't owe Burton anything after promotion & keeping them up. Big difference between crowds of 5,000 & 20,000.

A bigger Championship club may come in for Harris at some point. Villa, Leeds & Wednesday get very big crowds compared to Millwall. If these clubs don't get promotion this season, they may be looking for new managers.

Sean Dyche said managing Premiership players is like managing 25 mini organisations. As each player will have several agents.

Thinking again, would be quite surprised if a Villa, Leeds or Wednesday came in for Harris in the summer. Unless Millwall really push on & challenge for the play offs.

Nigel Clough had a lot more managerial experience than Harris, espescially in the Championship. He also had links with Forest from being a former player. Forest only just avoided relagation last season, so someone like Clough or Warburton would be the best they could go after.

It is more likely an under performing supposed bigger Championship club would make a move for Harris in the summer. Such as Middlesborough, Sunderland, Reading or Birmingham. Harris may do what Clough did to Forest & turn them down.

Harris's only focus now will be on Millwall this season.

Just as I said about Gregory last summer, I cannot see a big Championship club taking the gamble.

You only have to read the comments after we play these sides to see Harris would not be on their radar. It's usually along the lines of ' they are aggressive, organised and direct, it's effective, but I wouldn't want to watch that every week'. Even poxy Brentford fans!

Now, a Preston or Barnsley may see the worth in Harris as a manager - but can you see him leaving for one of those? Same as only Rotherham came in for Gregory & he decided to stay.

Some types of manager only work at certain clubs - even genius ones. Brian Clough was made for a small provincial club from the Midlands. But not for a big northern powerhouse full of egos or a soft southern side on the coast.

There will be clubs looking in & if he gets us in the top six at the end of the season there will be clubs come in for him goes without saying & with some of the money they will offer it will be hard for him to turn it down that's why it's so impotent that the club back him & give him some decant funds to get a few more players in as that will eventually get to him

As Wall supporters that have had some poor managers in recent times, most of us hold NH in high regard. In the main that is because we all know what he has achieved, clearing out the dead wood after relegation, building a team mentality and togetherness and getting us promoted in the second season with a very limited budget. He then has us playing a slightly different brand of football and holding our own in the championship, that with a couple of results going our way (1pt at Forest, 3 at Bristol or QPR, 1 at home to Ipswich) would have us comfortably top half, eyeing 6th spot.

The thing is whilst we look upon this as an achievement I’m not sure the rest of the division do. You only have to read what the opposition managers say, Warburton was the only manager to give us credit, and that is before you read the forums, not that forums count. We are viewed as a physical bullying side that launches the ball continuously, we have fallen into a bit of long ball this season, on the other hand there has been a fair bit of joined up.

Just saying that a mid-table championship manager may not be on the radar of any other clubs.

Every manager that says they know what to expect when they play us, comes from either sour grapes or embarrassment that they knew what was coming and were not good enough to do anything about it.

Personally I have been seeing some of the best football down the Den for years.

If we are a hoofball team, how come nearly all our goals have come from midfield?

99% of the time these things come down to money, I would imagine NH wages should see a significant rise in his next contract talks.

Neil won't go to some shit like Burnley unless pushed. He only went to Forest because the little dwarf Wise forced him out.
Never did well anywhere else because he never had his heart anywhere but here. Even at Southend that was his boyhood club!!!!

Harris and Millwall are made for each other. Does he make mistakes, you bet he fuckign does, but has he continually improved the club and himself during his tenure, absolutely.

As for the football, nothing wrong with some direct play, rather that than the relentlessly broing possession football amongst your defenders - that's a snooze fest!

On the plus side: He understands the club and fans. He's a good man-manager, although I'm not sure Worrall and Butcher would agree. He's got us promoted on a limited budget and believes in giving youth a chance. Prepares for and sells the club to potential signings, although does that make him unique?

On the negative side: I think tactically he is limited. His over-reliance of direct play makes us predictable. This season has seen our tactics refined, but as soon as things don't work out defaults back to direct play. Corners/free kicks lacking variation. Overly loyal to some players (e.g. Thompson last season, Fred and AOB). Tardy substitutions.

Would he be offered other jobs? I think a League 1 or 2 team would snap him up. Not sure about Championship clubs and certainly he'll never make the Premiership.

In many ways similar to Kenny Jackett.
