MILLWALL ANNUAL POPPY APPEAL DAY INFORMATION
Hello,
The Poppy Appeal day this year is the home game against Burton Albion, Saturday 4 November.
We have 20 soldiers, in uniform, coming from Woolwich to do the collection for us. The Club have been brilliant and have let us have access to all areas of the ground including boxes, away end, Exec Club and 'Arry's.
The soldiers will be in pairs, a couple at each gate, a couple in each bar, the boxes and away end and the rest wandering around. Me & my boys, Ayse and Mamalion will be running around stocking them up so hopefully there should not be the problem of previous years where enamels and pins run out.
Sean is coming to the collection. He is not at Cannon Street this year because he is having a new bathroom fitted (I kid you not) but the Club were keen for him to come and he wanted to do the Millwall day. Whether or not there will be Millwall badges remains to be seen, it is a copyright thing but we are hopeful that he and the soldiers will have previous years' Millwall enamels to sell if it can be ok'ed with the Poppy Appeal people (EFL thing, not the Club at all, they are being brilliant).
I bypassed the local organiser who caused all the problems last year and went to the overall London coordinator to sort this year out. I told her that we do not want the local organiser to be involved at Millwall anymore and that was fine, she has arranged for a nice young man called Rob, I think, to bring loads of merchandise and buckets etc.
The soldiers have stuff to do with the Club so will stop collecting at about 2.40pm. At that point me & my boys, Ayse & Mamalion and someone else I haven't roped in yet will take over the 3 gates to get all the drunks as they come in late from the pub and take their money off them.
Coins are nice but we prefer the nasty new plastic money and paper :)
PLEASE DO NOT FORGET THAT IF YOU HAVE ANY OLD £1 COINS THAT ARE NO LONGER LEGAL TENDER THE POPPY APPEAL CAN ACCEPT THEM.
Thank you all for your support.
Mel.

Millwall's annual Remembrance Day fixture is this Saturday as The Lions take on Burton Albion in the Sky Bet Championship at The Den (kick-off 3pm).

The club is welcoming army personnel as special guests this weekend, with soldiers pitchside ahead of kick-off against The Brewers.

The pre-match ceremony will begin as the referee carries the matchball out on to the pitch, followed by two personnel, each carrying a wreath, and bugler.

Twenty soldiers will welcome the teams and officials on to the pitch, before the bugler plays the Last Post, which will be followed by a minute's silence to remember the fallen. The period of silence will be ended by the Reveille.

Two personnel will then lay a wreath behind each goal in the final act of remembrance before the action gets underway.

Bucket collections for the British Legion Poppy Appeal will be held around the ground before kick-off, so dig deep!
