This could get a little ugly. Good time for the U.K. though as it weakens the EU27.

In Spain's eyes they think just arresting politicians is the answer, the problem will come if any of the 3 million civilians disagree. So too the police forces and any Catalans in the national armed forces. I know what I'd have done if Labour had swelled to turn over Brexit and arrested Brexit MPs, I'd have gone to war.

I can see most of them simply rolling over.

I cannot understand why the Spanish govt. didn't just have a referendum like we did with the Jocks. According to my understanding, they would have won it. I suppose the old habits of fascism die hard and Spain is still deeply fascist and racist.

As soon as they do this they would pretty much grant Catalonian future independence as at some point in the future the result may go against Spain then they would not be able to say sorry we won't now let it happen.

This is just what the EU doesn't want, and is why they were desperate for Scotland to stay part of the Union. And Brexit is pretty much entirely to blame, if we had remained then there wouldn't be this uprising.

The difference between Scotland and Catalonia is that Scotland takes more than it generates from the union, whereas Catalonia lobbing in 220 billion per year.

If they split, Barcelona will be kicked out of La Liga and the Champions league, thus opening the way for a Euro super league.

If they are kicked out of La Liga they will be replaced by whoever finishes 4th in the Spanish 2nd division. But it is not just Barcelona, there are about 14 teams in Catalonia. Espanyol are probably the next best known. Their champions league place will go to the 4th team in La Liga, someone like Valencia or Villareal.

In the Spanish civil war there was a lot British lefties who went over to fight....

It was a bit of a prelude to WW2. Different nations backing the 2 sides of the war.......how many nations will get involved this time???

Maybe Andorra

I don't think Tiger_Lion should return to Spain, he might be eating human testicles next time around.
