Fucking brilliant!!!, Lump in my throat thinking of my Dad working in the Docks, he said they all were One !! God help anyone who who got in their way or a member of a Dockers Family.
So proud of having the same bloodline from Deptford and Bermondsey. RIP Dad

Yes, they were all one.
My dad was a Lighterman, of course that all came to an end during the latter part of the 60's.
He was made redundant. It took him a while to get over it, he really loved the job and all the camaraderie that went with it. One of his brothers was also a lighterman. Then from my mum's side, I had two uncles who were also Lightermen.

On match days they would congregate and stand over near the dug outs (before the lower seats went in). I remember being passed over the turnstiles in those days before some old miserable got the hump, my dad wanted to kill him, so did most of the others in the queue behind.

:hihi:
