Big Mick got us playing some of the best football I ever saw us play.

We were top of the League before he got put forward for the Ireland job and the board invested in those two shocking Russians

We were 9th with 40 points from 29 games when he left to take on Ireland.

We then managed just 12 points in the remaining 17 games under the management of Jimmy Nicoll and got relegated on the last day of the season at Ipswich after Pompey won their last game.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I have to disagree with you on Big Mick.

Big Mick signed over 50 players in 4 years. Not loans, but signings with 2/3 year contracts.

Emblen was quite good for 250k. Negated a bit as the club had to pay Michael Harle's wages for the next few years as part of the deal.

Apart from Emblen, nothing.

Suppose Big Mick was a proto type for managers today.

Gary Monk was given around 40 million to spend in the summer. So he spent it. Norwich's manager was given 5 million for a CB earlier in the season. So he spent it.

Big Mick was given around 10 million to sign & give 50+ players signing on fees & contracts in the early 90's. So he spent it.

It was strange having a squad of 40+ players & then playing a 500k CM at RB for half a season. But a relief when another 500k was spent on specialist RB Lavin. Until I saw him play.

We were 9th when Big Mick left. However had played 2-4 more games than all the teams below us. We hadn't won for yonks & had been knocked out of the FA Cup by Oxford.

Weren't we beaten 6-0 by Sunderland in December while still top of the league ? Surely a first.

However this didn't stop an optimistic Nicholl saying upon appointment 'It's great that if we were to get promotion this season, everything is in place'.

What the What??? They were world class. They were playing balls that our team couldn’t comprehend. They were a different league, so looked out of place.

Best not sign them then.

Kulkov cried off early. Yuran never got a scoring run going. He had some nice touches but seemed to have Fuch's esq slowness.

Doubtful they would be up for it once they saw the other Millwall players in action. Kulkov wasn't & cried off early. Only Yuran will know if he gave it 100% or treated the games as fitness workouts. Either way he hardly scored.

"He was always praising the club & fans when he was manager. Unlike Big Mick."

Adam, I don't think this is true at all. I remember Holloway slagging the fans off after the Leeds game. This was when I decided he would fail with us. A Millwall manager always has to back the fans (within reason of course). This is why we have the Community Scheme; so that managers can refer to it when we kick off in some proverbial northern shithole.

Holloway directly attacked the fans. I don't recall Big MIck ever doing anything of the sort whilst he was in charge.

I don't remember that. What did Holloway say ?

Big Mick did used to regulary criticise the fans & got a Millwall fan ejected from the stadium in one game. He never praised the fans or club or thanked the club for giving him a Championship club to manage at 33.

Here you go. It made all the nationals. I don't remember any of Mick's utterances doing the same.

Thanks.

Some of Big Mick's moans would reach the nationals. Such as when he called fans 'morons' for criticising an off form Andy Roberts. Or saying he had to apologise to Jason Beckford for the stick the fans had given him in a game. He also said he didn't want to mix with Millwall fans after the play offs.

Other digs were more localised. To the SLP, The Lion Roars or programme notes.

Big Mick was also the only manager I know of who got a Millwall fan ejected from the New Den.

This couldn't happen now as the fan may go all over the social media about it. At the time the fan just wrote to 'The Lion Roars'. And no it wasn't me.

I'm sorry Adam, I just can't see it. Holloway was only our manager because it gave his ego a massage. Just analyze how many times he said "I" in his interviews when he was appointed. He was only ever in it for himself and this is witnessed by the fact that he insisted on the full compensation. Have a look at how he behaved on the coach on Friday - could you really see BIg Mick doing that?

I'm no McCarthy fan, but I would put him a long way behind Holloway in c*ntishness. Even Lomas had a better relationship with us than Holloway.

The freak dissapeared after we scored, all the while it was 0 - 0 he had a story to tell, when we scored he knew his side could not get back into the game. Self centred clown who is tactically inept.

Last night was supposed to be be all about him, in his head, from the antics when their team coach pulled up to the minute we scored, he thought he was the messiah, when we scored he melted like the fool he really is.

Nothing against QPR but they need to get rid of this blood sucking leach in a way that makes it impossible to ever get another job in football.

Holloway got sacked & got compensated the amount due in his contract. He didn't have to demand anything.

Anyway I've given several examples of Big Mick having a dig at Millwall & the fans. And could give more. Including getting a fan ejected. I have only seen one from Holloway.

Whether Holloway said 'I' a lot or was in it for himself, he was quite complimentary about the club in the articles & Youtube videos I saw. The fans didn't like him as soon as results went wrong.

His ego would certainly have been massaged after Berylson started kissing his feet asking him to become manager.

Anyone that sits behind the dugout can abuse or praise the manager. I was told that Big Mick didn't like abuse & had previously sarcastically clapped the fans behind the dugout.

The ejected fan had shouted out during a game 'why are high balls being given to Cadette McCarthy ?' There were then icy stares in the direction of the fan by Big Mick before he summoned a steward over. A minute later the fan was told to leave by stewards.
