The hot chocolate drinking bobble hat bloke was me. It was cold so those silver locks needed covering up. Maybe next time.
Ditto regarding the bent ref and the blind Lino. I thought we only got those shite refs at the Den!

Silver, thanks for the report mate, Happy New Year.

Did you take sandwiches, or eat out?

Happy New Year to you too Paris. We had an all day breakfast sandwich in Starbucks on the A14 on the way up and would have had a Delia pie if they'd sold them at the ground but they only had Pukka Pies. Almost as disappointing as the result!
And to put the record straight for Midway, it was Music which was my subject and I am no Lib Dem!

That would have been at Newmarket, then. Did you notice if your breakfast tasted a little....different? You know: the way Big Paul has become accustomed to liking it...

Sorry to disappoint fellas, but mine is always a no meat breakfast. 2 of toast normally, 1 with marmalade. If I can be bothered, I will add one of our fresh eggs to that, but not normally.
We are much more likely to eat venison or wild boar than horse, I can assure you.
In fact 14 years here has not seen a single horse steak on our plates!

Got to agree ,Fred is not a Millwall player ,no passion ,desire, bottle or skill ..we might as well play with 10 men ,,lost count the number of times he fell over or completely lost the ball and along with the majority of the team can't play a simple pass ....tunnicliffe playing on the left was an mistake and he proberly had his worst game for us.. We sat to deep yet again against a team we could have beaten...Harris in some respects is naive tactical and it shows. But the question of the majority of the fans by me was ..why does he pick Fred ?

i think it's important we get on his back next time he plays. afterall, he's one of our few youth players, scored shit loads of goals in lower leagues, and is is only young. if we do that, we will destroy his confidence, perhaps even for good!!

how many other 21 year olds are playing in this league yet?

how many other 19/20 year olds were scoring for fun in league 1?

maybe, just maybe, a bit of patience is needed, and support?

How many chances does the young man want?

Someone on here said how clever he was at Wembley going into the corners after Steve Morison told him to do so...

Fuck me, 100 years ago Millwall players his age were fighting in World War One. Bill Voisey, just a few years older, won the Military Medal, the Distinguished Service Medal and the Croix de Guerre for bravery and using his nous. He didn't have to be told to go into corners - kind of think he would have worked that out for himself.

Fred has made over 100 first team appearances for Millwall. That is a lot of games. I think by now we would know if there is a player of Championship standing in the making. I haven't seen it yet. Nor have many others.

By contrast look at what Jed Wallace had achieved at Portsmouth by the time he was Fred's age - and you can see the difference in quality, cunning and mental strength between the two now. Remember John Seasman? He made his debut for us on his 21st birthday. He'd only 25 previous League appearances to his name, yet arrived as a classy and polished professional who instantly added quality. No-one had to wait until he could be bothered to put a shift in.

I don't think we are digging Fred out, or trying to destroy his confidence. In fact, I think we have been very patient. But if a player really has it at this level, they'd be shewing it by now - and he hasn't.

Now it's up to him to show the fight and talent required to prove his myriad doubters wrong. If he can't then he really doesn't have what it takes: the higher standard you play the more closely you are analysed, the more is expected of you and there is less room for mistakes. If we are going to remain a Championship club then each player must be of Championship standard.

Is Fred?

On yesterday's performance he would hardly warrant a game in L2. There was very little to commend whilst on the field. Everybody I spoke to before the game were surprised he even made the starting eleven and during the game there was constant criticism of what he did....or more to the point.....what he didn't do.
It could not have escaped NH's notice that fans were singing Jed Wallace's name early in the second half and urging a substitution should be made. When he went off all the Millwall contingent at Carrow Road cheered. A loan spell beckons as I can't see him included in the starting eleven for a while.

whether Fred will make it as a Championship level player is speculation - players mature and learn at varying rates - there are many variables in this

the issue is that on current contributions he is not a Championship level player - he seems to have lost confidence and is frightened of making mistakes - that comes with pressure and has to be coached out of him. He simply does not do enough to influence matches , like AOB, and both weaken the general level of play - how much they can improve with coaching is an open question. Their replacements when Wallace is not around seem to be Ferguson, not available, and Twardek who has a lot to learn - time we do not have this season. Tunniclife cannot fill that wide left role. Hence we must act in the Window.

Harris has done a good job overall in moving players on after recognising their limitations - there is long list of players who have played a few games for him and are no longer at the club - it is the harsh reality of professional sport. However, players flourish under different set-ups. Many players have been written off too early. The beauty of football is that it is a team game, which is why the coach's role is so important. I don't think Harris is getting the potential out of Fred (think Raheem Sterling) . Wenger for one is criticised for not improving players, but we cannot buy them ready-made. Our supporters were chanting for Wallace against Norwich, well it didn't work because individuals rarely make that difference unless they are truly outstanding. There is too much focus on individuals and not enough on team dynamics amongst out fans - we get on players' backs too quickly.

My theory is he is picked as a product of Millwall youth , to inspire progress or attract young footballers to The Den. The problem with no left winger, runner or what you want to call it was highlighted yesterday when nearly all forward play went via the right of play, thus showing weakness to this strategy.
