What with our left midfield being a problem that needs to solved during the transfer window, I wonder ( just for the cup game)!if it’s worth playing Craig left back and Meridith further forward.
Only saying this because I’m sure Harris will be making the odd change anyway.
Bradford fans always said that Meridith was superb going forward.

You would be gutted if that caused us to miss a trip to Vermin towers

I truly hope he plays the youth with the spine staying the same.

Greggs and Moro definitely rested, along with Saville and Williams. Maybe give one of the youngsters a go at CB as well.

With our small squad, the last thing we need is a cup run. We are 6 point clear of relegation and a dip in form could see us fighting to stay up.

Play the kids, give the regulars a rest after the Christmas schedule and worry about beating Preston with a fully fit "up for it" strong side.

Hope he plays the first team.

This is the FA Cup. And if we don't, then what right have we to criticise other clubs who send their reserve teams to play us, as the Premier clubs did last season?

If NH wants to use the game to experiment with the midfield, that's fine by me. Because it strikes me that he's not exactly 100% certain, with Williams back, how to get the best out of what we have.

Also, that's another £67,500 in the bank if we win, not an insignificant amount to a club like ours.

He will play the first team.
I am confident of that, and so he should.

I am keeping a careful eye on the injury situation and what NH says in the week. Then on Friday I'll give my take on what the team might be. I do see the possibility of some changes. My mate suggested that maybe he could give TC a run out. Then I reminded him that the last time TC did play....as Cooper was suspended.....Barnsley were the opponents and we lost 3-1. That doesn't sound like a sensible move!

Silver, since when have we become a Bertie Big Bollocks club?

I despise the "big" clubs who put out weakened sides in the FA Cup; and now some want us to go the same arrogant and patronising way.

NH has to play his strongest XI. That would not include TC. How he deploys that XI is up to him.

I'm not sure it is Bertie big anymore. We've just played 4 games in 10-11 days with a small squad, or 7 games in 30 days using the same 14/15 players. Add to this our high intensity game and we will need to rest players. Most of the other teams, not all, have larger squads and rotate their players, look at Norwich, half their players hadn't played the game before us.

Ask NH or most of the supporters, do you want a cup run or to be playing in the championship next season? Both of course is the answer, it is a risk though.

I know it shouldn't be like this, however clubs looking for promotion, automatic or play offs, teams looking to avoid relegation will sacrifice the FA cup.

Sorry, mate. Don't buy into that.

Back in 1975/76 season Jago played exactly the same closing down tactics - actually possibly an even fiercer version because both strikers were told to chase and harry. Yet we played Palace in the cup on the 13th and 16th Dec, same opponents again in the League on the 20th, then at Peterborough on the 26th and home to Swindon on the 27th. Basically, five games in two weeks - three against the then League leaders. Then finished the season with three games - and wins - in five days to clinch promotion.

Our squad then was, if anything, smaller than now and only one sub was allowed, so the workload was much greater. Oh, and more football was played then because there were fewer stoppages (a statistical fact), with less time taken for free kicks, goal-kicks throw-ins etc.

Just get on with it: it is a first team competition, people are paying good money and giving up their valuable time. So play the bloody first team.

It'll be a sad day when we put out a weakened side for the FA Cup. It's the FA Cup for gods sake! Besides - we had a pretty good cup run last year and it doesn't appear to have adversely affected our league form considering we got promoted!

Give Smith a start up front with gregs or maybe AOB just to shake things up and give the front boys a rest.

Might as well give Martin a run out as well.
