Even mid table Championship sides are putting out reserve teams!! Even with a highly lucrative 5th round tie waiting.

The romance of the cup is gone! Most teams see it as a pain in the arse!

The FA need to do something, maybe get rid replays and give the 4th Champions league place to the FA cup winners!

It’s not dead from a fans point of view otherwise 400 of us wouldn’t have travelled up there (still would have been 300 without the Spurs factor)
The next fans forum will be interesting though as I’ve a feeling Harris & Whisky will be going toe to toe

Agreed, it has to be decided on the night. That's what the cup is supposed to be about, getting your act together on the day. Extra time, then penalties. No second leg.

400 of us having our senses tested to the max -

sight - watching a crap performance on a crap pitch.

sound - having to put up with that f'kin drum, all musical instruments should be banned from football grounds!

taste - expensive 3.8% piss water labeled Carlsberg.

touch - it would be a nice 'touch' if the club reimbursed out ticket and travel expenses as we didn't shell out our hard earned to see Millwall Reserves.

Rant over

To be honest, I think English football is pretty dead now.

Mark my words, in ten years time they will be using VAR to allow adverts during the game.

The PL will be split into PL 1 and PL 2 - PL 1 will have 16 teams and a winter break; to allow an even bigger Champions League and some extra play-off type games in Asia.

Well, there you are Moody. Neil Harris ain't such an hopeless basket case.
He binned last nights cup game, because he was looking at the bigger picture further down the road. Ten years further down the road, in fact. Sponsorship deals for Millwall FC with 'Habeco Hanoi Beer' and 'Lady Boys R Us'.

The club will be in an empty bowl in Kent by then - if Berylson (another Millwall hero & one of us) gets his way!

This why I regularly go to watch local team Herne Bay. Nice cheap beer in glasses. Players getting stuck in for not much pay. No prima donnas rolling about moaning they have play twice a week. These guys work during the day then play. Professional football is dying and I'm sad to see it??.

Let me try and summarise:

1. We're a mid-table Championship team and fielded a weaker team last night to ensure we don't fall back into the relegation battle.
2. If we were deep in the relegation battle we would have fielded a weaker team.
3. If we were in with a chance of the playoffs or automatic promotion we would have fielded a weaker team.

So, looking forward, if we remain in the Championship we will never field our strongest team again in the FA Cup

EXACTLY.

This is my fucking point. Well put.

Harris' selection last night has made me realise that following Millwall is a completely redundant exercise.

We will never challenge for promotion - people are fucking dreamers if they think we will be able to compete with the ever increasing parachute payments & big clubs like Villa, Leeds, Forest etc in long run. Huddersfield Town could probably afford to buy us, asset strip us & move on next year.

For a small club like Millwall it is about little moments of glory. If ever there was a chance and reason to take the cup seriously it was last night. The fact we didn't kinda kills it all for me. Like you say, when will we take it seriously then? Never again by the looks of it.

Points 2 and 3 are why last nights result was a disaster. We’re in neither.

Get rid of replays, your having a giraffe, there used to be as many replays it took to get through ,quite often teams would play 3 times .they ruined it by changing that rule/

Not many teams outside of the top six PL sides have had more 'little moments of glory' than us. For a small club, we probably have been spoiled a bit.

I am not very good with stats, Moody. So feel free to correct me.
Our recent history since 1999. Four play off finals, FA Cup Semi Final x2, FA Cup Final, A couple of other decent cup runs inc last season, a little trip into Europe. The Auto Whatsit final at the Old Wembley, Southern Final of the Tin Pot paint comp. Three promotions, one as champions. A couple of other play off semi's (Birmingham/Wigan).

I think if you want to keep the FA Cup alive, it needs to take a look at itself and be revamped. Do away with replays. Fight to the death on the day. The funny thing is managers (like Harris last night) put out a weakened team first go and usually end up with more matches because of the reply.

Fucking Millwall FC is a fucking joke.
Never gonna win fuck all.
Fielding your reserves so you stave off relegation from the championship possibly.
At the detriment of a home tie to spurs that the fans would go fucking mental about.
48 years old been my only club and I think Im a fucking mug for continuing to support this bunch of cunts who have never been any different for mugging off the supporters.
