Team v Cardiff

Another big game in front of the Sky cameras and an opportunity to put the debacle of Rochdale behind us. NH's team selection will settle once and for all whether it was right to rest some starters to give some fresh legs to his team. It will also be an opportunity to see whether any of the three that were ineligible for the cup game have made an impression and deserve a start or a seat on the bench. Did anybody come out of Tuesday's game with any serious pretensions to start against the Bluebirds or did they just confirm that they are bench warmers?

Archer didn't start and I expect him the regain his place between the sticks. Martin has some admirable qualities but you can't overlook the fact that in his four starts we have only won once. The debate at RB goes on. McLaughlin is a better defender but Romeo has drive and energy and can turn a game for you. Do you go for defensive solidity or flair and threat? Hutch has been a colossus for us and I expect him to renew his partnership with Cooper, who will be fresh. Meredith has a rival now but I don't think it would be fair to throw Toffolo into the mix in such a high profile game, unless there is an injury.

Midfield always has issues but it is clear that when we don't have Wallace from the start we lose some pace and threat down the right. It is CM where the biggest issues are. It was clear from the first game with Rochdale that Thompson and Tunnicliffe doesn't work well so why persist with it? Williams and Saville work better so I expect them to both start. Wide left is always an issue. We now have Marshall but has he had enough time to get match fit and be a serious contender for a starting spot? Or should we start Fergie and bring Marshall on with 30 to go to replace a tiring wide man?

Up front it proved yet again that Elliott is not a starter and Fred is not a good partner for him. Gregory and Morison are the best front two we have and I expect them to start.

My thoughts are,

Archer
Romeo Hutch Cooper Meredith
Wallace Williams Saville Marshall
Gregory Morison
Subs Martin McLaughlin Shackell Thompson Fergie Cahill Fred

We have Birmingham City & Sheffield Wednesday coming up - surely Harris should be resting players for those matches? Are they not more important? I don't know the rules anymore. Could the club highlight the fixtures in future - declaring which ones are important & which are not.

Could we not use the Ticket Category rating, to decide which Team to send out?

Anyone who gets dressed-up as a lumberjack for each home game, deserves the upmost respect.

Perhaps he was traveling incognito; don't forget the OB felt his collar after the 'cute waitress' grassed him up.
