Sadly lost my mum on the 24th Dec to cancer, she was only 64. Turns out my brother’s mate wrote in about her, names of those loved ones lost will be in the programme and shown on the screen tonight. Only just found out, didn’t think I could shed anymore tears but this caught me right out. Please give an extra “millll” if the name Rosemary Avery pops up.

Thanks mate. Even harder as she genuinely was one of the loviest lady you could have ever met. I couldn’t make the game last night, wasn’t sure if they would show her name. Got a text at half time from my cousin at the game which just said “Nice touch”. Called him and he’d seen mum’s name come up on the screen. I was made up, lovely gesture from the club,

Genuinely saddened to hear this. Way, way too young.

I’m one of four boys, she loved us all unconditionally and kept us on the straight and narrow. Big hole but little moments the that, kind words from strangers it’s all very humbling.

Millwall is a bit like a wider family, you meet another fan going about your business and more often than not there is an instant bond. Will never forget that day that poor fella had a heart attack in the east stand. I’ve never witnessed anything like it, when word had got round the stadium and everyone started clapping and the monk chant in support. Makes my hair stand on end just thinking about.

No one likes us, we don’t care but we fucking care for our own. Proud.

Sad loss of a Mother so young. Feel for your family and friends.

Keep your memories burning brightly and she will always burn brightly within.

Good last post as well, nice one fella.

My Dads name was on the screen, it was a very nice thing for the club to do.
I am sure it will happen again next year

Spot on. Her dad, managed Bridger’s butchers for those that remember, told me two things that will forever stick; “Friends come and go but your family will always be there for you.”. Also, “Millwall always get so far before messing up.”. Let’s hope we can buck the latter!!
