Interesting read from the Ipswich perspective.

Where any of you there? And was it firm but fair or a little over the top?

Sorry Noose, was at sea at the time , from memory loading in the U.S. Gulf but , it did make the head-lines on the B.B.C., World Service Sports Round-Up and Bobby Robson was'nt too pleased with the 'Wall supporters whom he reckoned should have had flame-throwers turned on us I took a lot of stick from fellow crew members and one engineer actually , whilst doing some cutting turned his torch towards me as I walked by on deck Nasty people engineers

I'm sure there are plenty who will give you a balanced version of what actually happened

It all started because Mick Mills looked like Adam Chance from Crossroads and the day before he **cked Miss Dianne who the public loved, just a mis-understanding thats all.

Quality ringo. That match was my first (Ilderton Road), what an introduction.

I was there and like Kinelloz, I was only 9 at the time.

I was sitting in the front forecort seats near the dugout. As I was only 3 foot tall, I had to stand on my seat to see what was happening.

The thing I remember most was the pre-match cowboy show. I blame that for triggering the riot , they even had a coffin on the side of the pitch. The other thing I remember clearly in my mind, was the poor old fella with his head bandaged, and covered in blood, being led round the pitch.

Because we took my Nephew, who was only 7 at the time, me and my Brother sat in the seats, in fact I can see the 3 of us in this photo.

I was there, it was not for the feint hearted. I took my mates son who was about 7 or 8 and he
was flattened by some of our supporters. I did not go back to the Den for over 5 years after that. We got beat by a better team and thats should have the end of it.

I was there. From what I remember it had simmered from the first goal, both sets of fans were hostile, and as the goals went in the pot boiled even faster. In the end it boiled right over.
Well, thats todays cookery lesson over with.
Oh,and by the way,Bobby Robson was [and still is] a **nt.
It wasn't pleasant,I can tell you that.

I was there in the Ilderton rd end right from the beginning ,15 at the time , I think it was the NOTW the next day printed the picture top right ,the old fella with a bandage round his head ,saying this was what Millwall scum had done to this old Ipswich support, not trying to condone what happened that day ,but he Was "Wall" and his injury was caused by the police baton charge through the Ilderton road from the gates to the cornor of the HWL(jew hill)
