'Brewed in the pot' or 'Bag in the cup'? (n/w)

Me and my missus have actually fallen out over this one. She refuses to make my tea with a teapot because "it's too much arsing about", though im not sure how much 'arsing about' can be attributed to leaving some water in a pot? Therefore I now make all of the tea because I want it done properly, and she gets away with it because she's a pig with no class!

Groucho - That is a most despicable attitude on your wife's part. Tea bags are for lazy sods who cannot make tea properly. I always use a pot and my preferred tea is Assam with B.o.P. a very close second Two teaspoons of Tea per person plus a dash more , always warm the pot with boiling water and ALWAYS pour the boiling water into the pot . Never AFTER the water has boiled. Allowed to settle for three to four minutes , use a decent strainer and hey presto a perfect 'Sarn't Majors' . Oh and the milk , if used, always is added after pouring the Tea , never before

A very student'ish sort of response McC. Rather be an awkward c*nt than a lazy one!

This did actually escalate into a row at home. I had a go about the tea, she bit, things got out of hand. I think i accused her of cheating on me at one point!

Making the tea wrong is effectively cheating anyway. She is cheating you out of a decent cup of tea!

Has to be 'in the pot' and biscuits should never, ever, be dunked in the tea. It's wrong.

Prefer a good cup of freshly made coffee myself.

It's true, tea made in a teapot always tastes better.

But I am partial to a bit of tea-bagging once in a while

Stop talking shit (I'm prepared to arrange a meet over this*). Any fool knows that a bag in the cup that's left to stew for about 10 minutes wins the day.

Milk and sugar should only be added after the bag has ben removed. FACT.

Groucho, I'm surprised she hasn't kicked you out, you wrong 'un

A proper cup of tea takes too long to make - you have to be over 60 to have the patience.

1. has to be tea leaves never a bag.
2. has to be brewed (not over brewed) in a tea pot.
3. the pot must be warmed - never cold.
4. Water must be off boiling - never boiling.
5. Transfer cup must be warmed - never cold.
6. and real tea drinkers add no milk or sugar EVER.

TTKK :hat:

To be fair, Obes, I don't drink the stuff apart from 2 cups at work each day.

Okay, so the 10 minute quip was an exaggeration, but it must be left to stew and then strained so you have a right strong cup of tea.
